William Smith (Bill) Taylor
William Smith (Bill) Taylor was born February 9, 1960 in Hayti, Missouri. He was the son of the late Paul Smith (Bill) Taylor and Edith Katherine Moore Taylor.
He departed this life at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on December 9, 2017. He was 57 years old.
On September 22, 1984 in Braggadocio, Missouri he was united in marriage to Elizabeth June Crain.
Bill started working along side his father at the family owned business, New Madrid Harbor Service, at the age of 14. After that he started tending bar at the Chaparral, he then worked at the sheriff’s office as a dispatcher, and later started his own insurance agency.
He had lots of hobbies and interest. Bill started an annual family float trip on the Jacks Fork River in Eminence, Missouri. He was a golfer for many years then later became an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed dove hunting with his good friends. Bill had a strong passion and love for the Mississippi River that he inherited from his father.
Bill’s greatest accomplishment, pride and love was for his daughter, Shay.
Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Libby) Taylor.
His daughter, Shay Harbaugh and her husband, Adam.

Cathy Taylor – Nashville, TN
Becky Taylor – Memphis, TN
And many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Bill and Edith Taylor.
Graveside services were held in Maple Cemetery on Saturday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. with Ed Reeves officiating.
Pall bearers: Chris Mehrle, Charles Davis, Adam Harbaugh, Tim Bond, Damon Riggs, Taylor Riggs, Steve VanAusdall, Justin Hopper.
