Sherry Bullington

Sherry Bullington was born in Caruthersville, Missouri, on December 15, 1945.

She departed this life in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on March 22, 2023, at the age of 77.

She was the daughter of the late Arvil James Lux & Anne Mae Wheeler Lux.

Sherry attended Caruthersville schools and graduated in the Caruthersville High School Class of 1963. Following graduation, she went to cosmetology school in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

On December 27, 1963, in Caruthersville, she was united in marriage to Dale Eugene Bullington. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2019.

After 48 years in Caruthersville, she and Dale lived in Springdale, Arkansas, for 13 years before retiring to Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Sherry enjoyed reading, bingo, and a little casino time with Dale. She also loved cooking, baking, spending time with her children and grandchildren, along with visiting with her high school friends monthly at Subway, and drinking coffee with the Bullington brothers and her friends at Jiffy Jim’s.

Sherry was a hair stylist for over 30 years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Caruthersville.

She is survived by two sons:  Kenny Bullington & his wife, Lori, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Chris Bullington & his wife, Jennifer, of Caruthersville, Missouri; five grandchildren:  Mariah Watkins, Madison Smith, Ethan Smith, Evan Bullington, and Audrey Smith; one great grandchild:  Kaiden Watkins; two sisters:  Carol Pinkston & her husband, Stanley, and Ginger Vincent & her husband, Guy; and a number of other relatives and many, many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Mike Lux.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, March 23, 2023, at 2:30 pm in the H. S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Dr. James Adams & Jacob Hogg officiating.  H. S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
