Jeremy Lynn Mills, 39, left us suddenly on May 27, leaving us all with a sadness that will always exist until reunited with him. Born to James and Rita Mills on March 1, 1980 in Blytheville, AR, Jeremy was of the Baptist belief and is now with his dad who passed last year.
Jeremy graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1998 in Paragould, AR. After marrying Maranda in 2002 and the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Jeremy enlisted in the United States Army on November 6, 2007 where he excelled in his field. Throughout his military career Jeremy received much recognition for his achievements. He attended Basic Training and AIT at Fort Sill, Oklahoma graduating March 15, 2007. He was assigned to B BTRY 3-17th FA BN; 5-2-SBCT at Fort Lewis Washington on April 1, 2008. During his tenure in the army he served as a Gunner during Howitzer Top Gun Certification, earning Battalion Top Gun in April of 2008. His schools include: FBCB2, ASIPS101, EPLRS, DVE Training, Driver’s Training, M198 Howitzer Operator Course, Squad Designated Marksman Course, US Army Sniper School, and Warrior Leader Course. He is the recipient of two Afghanistan Campaign Stars, two Army Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, overseas service ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, one Nato Medal and 5 Army Achievement Medals. Jeremy was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 2015. After Army life Jeremy moved to Senath, MO where he began working with his dad, and along with James became a Certified Technician with Minn Kota and repaired trolling motors for Minn Kota Corporation until his death.
Preceding Jeremy in death was his dad, James Malcom Mills in 2018, his paternal grandparents, Murry Mills and Marilyn Mills and his maternal grandparents, Pete Jr. and Mary Branum.
Surviving Jeremy is Maranda Mills, who remained his best friend and is also the mother of his daughter, Haylee Lynn Mills of Pangburn, AR. His mother, Rita Mills of Senath, MO and his close brother, Shawn (Jessica) Mills of Bono, AR and also brother James (Beth) Mills, Jr. of Ozark, MO. In addition Jeremy leaves niece, Ashley Mills of Springfield, MO and nephew, Matthew Mills of Springfield, MO and Ben Mills of Ozark, MO. A host of cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as friends, fellow soldiers, and buddies, join the above in mourning the loss of Jeremy.
Services at H.S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, MO at 12:00 p.m. on May 31. Burial will begin at 3:00 at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Pallbearers: Brian Boling, Jason Baird, Matthew Mills, Wes Davis, Nick Taylor, and Jon Wilkinson.
