Elizabeth Ann Christian Dudley

Elizabeth Ann Christian Dudley was born November 7, 1938 in Waco, Texas.

She departed this life in Kennett, Missouri on March 10, 2023.  She was 84 years old.

On June 1, 1958, in Caruthersville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Jerry Kelley Dudley.  They celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Libby was a devoted wife, loving her husband dearly.  After raising her children, she became a very wonderful “Nannie” that loved cheering at Christian’s ballgames, watching LeAnne perform and sing on the stage, and going to the horse barn with Isabella.  She loved baking cookies, watching movies, and reading Bible stories with the grandkids.

For many years she taught children’s Sunday school.  The youth group met weekly at their home for years and she taught a weekly teenagers Bible study group.  Anytime there were gospel singing groups or missionaries in town with the church, Libby invited them to spend the night at their home.

She was a lady that truly had a “servant’s soul.”  She was always doing for others and absolutely expected or wanted nothing in return.  She absolutely saw the good in everyone and lived by the motto of Jesus first, others second, and self-last.

In addition to being devoted to her family and church, she was also a member of the local DAR chapter.

She is survived by her husband: Jerry Dudley of Caruthersville, Missouri; one son: Shane Dudley and his wife, Jaime, of Caruthersville, Missouri; one daughter: Gerianne Elizabeth Dudley Griffin and her husband, David of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren: Christian Lee Dudley, LeAnne Renee Dudley, and Isabella Rose Griffin; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded by her father – James Henry Christian, her aunt who was a mother to her – Elsie Westfall, a son – Todd Christian Dudley, and a grandson – Christopher Todd Henderson, and a sister – Evelyn Boston.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the H. S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Brother Jim Pilcher officiating. Interment to follow in Little Prairie Cemetery.
