Charles Edward Darnell

Charles Edward Darnell was born August 11, 1944, in Braggadocio, Missouri. He was the son of Charles Samuel Darnell and Edra Odean Cole Darnell.

He departed this life December 6, 2022, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Missouri. He was 78 years old.

On December 21, 1963, in Hayti, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Brenda Christian. They celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Charles was a very honest hardworking businessman. He had a knack for being able to remember numbers. In fact, he just had a great memory for about anything.

He never met a stranger. He could have a conversation with anyone and everyone. He loved telling stories about growing up with his family.

Charles always said that he was working for the Lord and no matter what amount of money he made, he always gave his tithes to the church. He was a devoted member of Faith Pentecostal Church.

He loved to travel, especially to Florida.

Charles was a true family man. He loved having them all together. They loved his laughter and stories. He built a very strong family bond among his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survived by his wife: Brenda Darnell of Braggadocio, MO; two daughters: Kimberly Crowder & Candice Leal of Braggadocio, MO; one brother: Johnny Darnell of Braggadocio, MO; three grandchildren: Kayla Vennenti, Kelsey Smothers (Justin), & Chloe Crowder; four great grandchildren: Celia, Olivia, Declan & Houston; and many other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother – Samuel.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 9, 2022, at 2:00 pm with James Riley officiating in the H.S. Smith Chapel. Interment followed in Maple Cemetery.
