William Jessie Morgan

William Jessie Morgan was born January 20, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona.  He was the son of Jessie Morgan and Gladys Short Morgan.

He departed this life in Jackson, Tennessee on December 5, 2022.  He was 73 years old.

On May 9, 1968, William was inducted into the United States Army.  He proudly served his country receiving his honorable discharge.  Upon his discharge, he transferred to the United States Army Reserve.  During his service he received a bronze star and 2 O/S bars.

On July 2, 1970, in Hayti, Missouri he was united in marriage to Wanda Brewer.  They celebrated 52 years of marriage.

William was a family man.  He dearly loved his family including grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed decorating his yard for different holidays. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and also his grandson, Brewer. He also was a true “Mr. Fix-it.”  His adult children still relied on him to take care of any household problems they had.

He had a 1960 Ford truck that he loved working on and also traveling to antique car shows.

Survived by his wife: Wanda Morgan of Caruthersville, MO; four children: Sandy Rose (Frank) of Long Beach, Mississippi, Kay Hudgens (Jerry) of Caruthersville, Missouri, Tammy Oatsvall (Carl) of Union City, Tennessee, & William J. Morgan, Jr. (Whitnee) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two brothers: Donald Morgan & Glen Morgan; five sisters: Judy Hudgens, Peggy Jossetty, Betty Morgan, Gale Burt and Kay Ruby; nine grandchildren: Matthew Myers, Morgan Rose, Brandon Rose, Kasey Thomas, Jerry Hudgens, Jr., Jake Oatsvall, Erin Oatsvall, Ashlynn Marrow, & Brewer Morgan; 11 great grandchildren: Kelli Jo, Jared, Madi, Jon David, Rhett, Raelynn, Rogen, Brilyn, Camden, Benny & Kaiden; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Larry and Sammy; and two sisters, Sandy and Brenda.

Funeral services are Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at the H. S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri. Interment to follow in Maple Cemetery. H. S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
