Ted Streete

James Terrence “Ted” Streete was born December 14, 1939 in Tunica, Mississippi. He was the son of John Lemuel Streete and Dorothy Poore Streete. 

He departed this life on December 14, 2021 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.  He was 82 years old.

Ted spent his early years in Tunica, Mississippi and then moved with his family to Caruthersville, Missouri in the early 1950’s. 

On December 28, 1958 in Caruthersville, Missouri he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Virginia Sue Bader.

Ted was a clever and determined leader who was generous with his time and wisdom as evidenced by the impact he made on his church and local community and civic organizations.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, where he served as a deacon, an Elder, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the choir.  He was a Caruthersville school board member, a board member of the St. Francis Levee District and served on the board of directors of Tops’l Beach and Racquet Resort.

In his free time, Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with friends and family.  He generously devoted time to sharing his hobbies with his sons-in-law and grandchildren.

Ted’s greatest joy was the large and close-knit family he built with his soulmate, Sue.  He loved being Sue’s husband, daddy to his girls, and Big Ted to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Ted knew God’s love and showed God’s love to his family and those who knew him.

Ted is survived by, his wife, Sue Streete; daughters Beth Streete Spencer and her husband, Bob, Ginny Streete VanAusdall and her husband, Rog, Susan Streete Hathhorn and her husband, John, Lara Streete White and her husband, George; grandchildren, Rogers VanAusdall (Emilee), Staten Spencer McKenny (Andrew), Ted VanAusdall (Mackenzie), Jacob VanAusdall (Kara), Kate Spencer Landry (Kevin), John Bennett Hathhorn, Gracie Hathhorn, Mary Maddux White, Katya VanAusdall, Alec White, Sarah Hathhorn, and Lauren White.  He is also survived by five great grandchildren, his sister Alexis Streete Avis, his brother, Jack Streete and a multitude of relatives and friends.

Pallbearers:  Rogers VanAusdall, Ted VanAusdall, Jacob VanAusdall, John Bennett Hathhorn, Alec White, Andrew McKenny, Kevin Landry, John Henry Donald and Walter Trammell

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 18 at First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the celebration of life services to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will follow with only immediate family members attending.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Caruthersville.
