Lexie Dora (Reed) Grant-Taylor

Lexie Dora Reed Grant-Taylor was born to Ruby Willis and Wilbert Reed on June 24, 1939, in Joiner, Arkansas. Both parents preceded her in death. She was raised with ten loving siblings. Four brothers: David Smith, Joshua Smith, Alvin Smith, and Wilbert Reed, who preceded her in death; three sisters: Willie Mae Banks, Myrtle Swift, and Ellen Pettigrew, who also preceded her in death. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

She was united in marriage to L.B. Grant on December 20, 1954. To this union, 14 children were born. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1974.

She found love again and was married on May 10, 1980, to John Eddie “Jack” Taylor. To this union, five children were born. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2015. Two precious children preceded her in death, Rose Mary Grant and Robert Grant. Seven grandchildren and four grandchildren preceded her in death as well.

Mother Lexie leaves to cherish her sweet memories, 17 children. Her sons: David Herbert Lee (Casundra), Lewis Bob, Ronnie (Shirley), Larry, Vincent (Jennie), and Lee Edward; daughters: Shirley Jean, Rose Marie (Willie), Barbara Ann, Lee Dora, Linda Sue (Fred), Debbie (Heshimu), Sefawnda, Juliet, Jacqueline (Josh), and Lexie (Tyhisa). She was blessed with 67 grandchildren, 113 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, who will cherish her memories. She also leaves two beautiful best friends, her sisters: Ruby Dawson and Onie Mae Mack. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Divine Holiness Church in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Pastor Jamie Jones officiating. Interment to follow service at Morgan Ridge Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m.
