Nancy Pate Cagle
Nancy was born in Braggadocio, Missouri on September 11, 1933 into a farm family of 10 siblings. She departed this life at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on July 31, 2018 at the age of 84. She was the daughter of the late William Bryant Pate & Mamie Tatum Pate. Nancy attended the Braggadocio schools where she graduated from High School. On October 17, 1953 she was united in marriage to Lonnie Cagle.
Nancy worked for the Brown Shoe Company and in the offices of local doctors. She retired from Colson Corporation in 1992 after 25 years of service.
She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, including her Sunday School class and the Women on Missions. Nancy also prepared mountains of food for the church youth, funerals and other church events.
Nancy was selflessly devoted to her family and her favorite time of the year was when all 25 of her immediate family members (and often others) gathered for Christmas Eve church service and Christmas day dinner.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Cagle of Caruthersville, Missouri, three children, Tippy Cagle Short and husband Lee of El Segundo, California, Patricia Cagle Gregory and husband Don of Caruthersville, Missouri, and Pate Cagle and wife Julie of Cincinnati, Ohio. Seven grandchildren – Matthew Gregory, Petra Dawson, Amanda Short, Rachel Hansen, Noah Cagle, Julia Cagle and Nate Cagle. Eight great grandchilden – Jude, Vivien & Fern Dawson, Grace & Ada Gregory, Carter Rose Cagle-Simms and Alvin & Oliver Hansen. One Brother, Joe Pate and one Sister, Patsy Kittrell & a number of other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held August 4 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Brother Jimmy Lemonds officiating. Interment followed in Maple Cemetery. Pallbearers were First Baptist Church deacons. H.S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
