Murvis Helen McElhenney

Murvis Helen McElhenney was born in Amagon, Arkansas, on September 18, 1937.

She departed this life in Round Lake Heights, Illinois, on September 15, 2023, at the age of 85.

She was the daughter of the late Clyde Turner & Henrietta Tucker Turner.

Murvis attended the Deering (Missouri) schools, graduating from Deering High School.

She was united in marriage to Perry David McElhenney, who preceded her in death on October 12, 1997.

Murvis was employed by Hunter Fan as an assembly worker for many years and she was also a branch manager and bank teller prior to retirement.

She enjoyed reading, board games (especially Yahtzee), and cooking.

Murvis was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi.

She is survived by her daughter: Rise McElhenney of Round Lake Heights, Illinois, along with her children– Elyija Jones, Jimmy Bolkovatz, & Brianna Collins; one sister: Faye Vaughn of Caruthersville, Missouri; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by ten siblings: Darlis & her twin, Violet, James, Pansy, Keith, Tommy, Evelyn, Teresa, and Mary.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 11:00 am in the H. S. Smith Funeral Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Pastors Javaughn Colbert & Leland Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Maple Cemetery.
