Al Smith, Sr.

Mr. Al Smith, Sr. was born November 25, 1930, in Holland, Missouri to Al and Celia Smith. He passed in peace on December 4, 2020.

Al was unified with Katie Lois Smith on February 9, 1951 in Blytheville, Arkansas.  This union was blessed with 7 children.

Al was an active member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Caruthersville, Missouri.

Al was well known in his community.  He worked as a custodian for First State Bank, National Bank, Hayden’s Pharmacy and numerous other jobs in the community.

He also served time in the military in his younger years.  He had a contagious smile, personality and accepted everyone with open arms.  He enjoyed fishing and rabbit hunting; any outdoor activities Al was down for.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Celia Smith; eldest daughter, Dianne Tillman.

His beautiful life and legacy will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Katie Lois Smith; four sons Al Smith, Jr. and Anthony Smith of California, Dennis Smith of Nashville, Tennessee, and Tony Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Sandra Jean Smith of Nashville, Tennessee and Fondra Kaye Smith of Columbus, Georgia; dearest sister-in-law, Lou Ella Ashford; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held December 12, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Hood officiating.  Interment was in Morgan Ridge Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri, with military honors.
