Mickey Moody

Albert Aldeon (Mickey) Moody was born November 6, 1947 in Blytheville, Arkansas.  He was the son of the late George Aldeon Moody and Callie Louise Yarbrough Moody.

He departed this life at his home in Caruthersville, Missouri on September 18, 2019.  He was 71 years, 10 months, and 12 days old.

After graduating from Caruthersville High School with the class of 1965, Mickey attended the University of Missouri. 

In 1967, he entered the United States Army as part of the 82nd Airborne.  He proudly served for 2 years.  In 1988 he joined the National Guard where he served until 2007.  During this time, he was deployed to Iraq for 1 year.

Mickey was united in marriage to Debra Baxter at the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville, MO on March 29, 1974.

He was a charter member and very active member of the Riverbottom Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.  He loved spending time outdoors both hunting and enjoying nature.

Mickey was a very dedicated Christian.  For many years, he was a member of the Temple Baptist Church where he served as a youth worker, Sunday school director, and a deacon.  In 1996, he was called to the ministry.  He served as a pulpit fill in until he took a full time pulpit job with Haywood Baptist from 2004-2005.  In 2006, he became the minister of Cottonwood Baptist Church where he served until his retirement in December of 2018. 

He worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 years.

2 brothers – George Douglas (Cammie) Moody – Fair Grove, MO

1 brother-in-law – Mike (Martha) Baxter – Sikeston, M)

1 grandson – Will Treece – Caruthersville, MO

Nieces, nephews, other relatives & many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents

Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 at the H.S. Smith Chapel.

Visitation will be held Saturday at Cottonwood Baptist Church at 11:00. The service will be at 1:00.
