Mary Lou Payne Mann

Mary Lou Payne Mann was born October 16, 1939, in Steele, Missouri. She was the daughter of Woodie Strawn Payne and Charles Marvin Payne.

She departed this life on October 7, 2022, in Pacific, Missouri. She was 82 years old.

On June 17, 1956, in Caruthersville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Doyel Odell Mann. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Mary and Doyel moved to Pacific, Missouri, in 1972. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gray Summit. She taught Sunday school for 28 years and was also the director of Vacation Bible School. She also volunteered as a part of the Citizens Corps – Community Emergency Response Team.

She was devoted to her family.

She is survived by three sons: David Wayne Mann (Angela) of Pacific, Missouri, John Andrew Mann (Mary) of Independence, Missouri, and Charles Eric Mann (Bridget) of Park Hills, Missouri; one daughter-in-law: Penny Mann of Union, Missouri; one brother: James Edward Payne; her twin sister: Martha Sue Mann; another sister: Virginia Carrol DeGroot; nine grandchildren: Erica Mann, Kathryn Mann, Micah Mann, Molly Mann, Ethan Mann, Brett Mann, Jared Mann, Emiley Mann, and Jamie Moomey; five great grandchildren: Ellie Adams, Kaylin, Steven, Scarlett, and Kennedy Strubberg; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband, a son – Steven Martin Mann, and a brother – John Richard Payne.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 10th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Gray Summit, Missouri.

Interment followed on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri. H. S. Smith in charge of services.
