Manell Dudney

Manell Dudney was born March 8, 1926 in Faulkner County, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry Everrett McCaig and Eudora Baker McCaig. She departed this life at 94 years of age, on August 23, 2020 at Southgate Living Center, in Caruthersville, MO.

Manell was married to the late John “Ollie” Roberts in 1941, for three years until Ollie died while serving our country and from this union was born Lane Ruth and Linda Fay Roberts.

Manell remarried on August 30, 1947 to Frank Albert Dudney, who was a WWII veteran and a farmer.  They enjoyed attending Church together, camping & turkey hunting, and robust conversation and cared for each other for 44 years before Frank’s death in 1991.  To this union was born Lancy Dudney Mansfield and Lesia Dudney Miller.   Frank and Manell Dudney were devoted members of Temple Baptist Church.   Worship and service to their church was important to them.

Manell and Frank Dudney were  blessed to enjoy thirteen grandchildren – Arlinda Rogers Boyd, Joey D. Rogers,  Jeff Rogers, Greg Rogers, Sondra Kowalski Luszcak, David Kowalski, Cresena Kowalski Gist, Amber Gifford Counce, Chris Gifford , Louie Mansfield, Jr., Lance K. Mansfield, Randy Miller, and Kelli Sawyer Medlin eight great- grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Over the years, Manell worked at several occupations:  Brown Shoe Company, as a beautician, the best grizzly jig tier and later retired from Ace Hardware after 25 years of service as a salesclerk.

After he husband Frank Dudney passed way, Manell moved from Kinfolks Ridge to the little yellow house on South Ward Ave. in Caruthersville.  Manell loved working in her flower beds, and especially in the backyard where flowers outlined her yard and occasionally neighbors would stop and visit and take pictures.

Manell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lane Roberts Rogers, Linda Roberts Kowalski Gifford, he grandson Joey Rogers, her brother, J D. McCaig and a sister, Lucille Henley.

Funeral services were held August 26 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Jim Pilcher officiating.  Interment in Maple Cemetery.

Pall bearers:  Wade Mansfield, Lance Mansfield, Jr., Lance Mansfield, Gavin Mansfield, and Randy Miller.
