Janet Regina Chastain

Janet Regina Chastain was born June 2, 1952, in Pascola, Missouri.  She was the daughter of Eathel Houston McMahan and Mary Ellen Mayernik McMahan.

She departed this life in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on September 29, 2023.  She was 71 years old. 

Janet had a big personality.  She was sassy and bossy and would always give you her opinion.  She loved decorating for all the holidays and then having friends and family over to enjoy.  She was known for her good home cooking.   In addition to her family and friends, she also loved her pets, Miss Kitty and Cutie Pie.

She is survived by her partner: Floyd (Knuck) Pendergrass of Caruthersville, MO; three children: Stephen Scott Chastain of Pascola, MO, Jennifer Rice (Brad Mashburn) of Steele, MO, & Christie Tubb of Poplar Bluff, MO; one sister: Joyce Phillips; four grandchildren: Michael Davis, Devan Putman, Zachery Rhodes, & Kyle Tubb; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great granddaughter – Makinleigh Jones.

Funeral service for Janet Regina Chastain will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Reverend Kenny Lee officiating. Interment to follow service in Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.

Visitation will be held the evening prior to the service, on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
