Frances A. Young
Frances A. Young was born July 29, 1923 in Caruthersville, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late James Arthur Schaffer and Mary Jane Mills Schaffer.
She departed this life at the Southgate Living Center in Caruthersville, Missouri on April 1, 2018. She was 94 years old.
Frances was united in marriage to George L. Young on November 23, 1946 in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 2010.
For many years, she worked as a switch board operator for Southwestern Bell in Caruthersville, Pacific Bell in Pasadena, California and the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. After that she went to work for Missouri Department of Family Services as a case worker.
In addition to working and raising her family, she was involved in the community. She was a member of the RSVP, a member of the American Legion Auxillary, a Brownie Scout leader, a member of the Pemiscot County Historical Society, a volunteer at the nursing home for 30 years and worked as an election judge.
She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville for 64 years.

A daughter – Elizabeth Hardesty – Caruthersville, Missouri
6 grandchildren – Jeremy Young (Risa) Adam Malin, Valarie Swanson, Suzanne Young, Matthew Young (Codi and Carson Hardesty.

She was preceded in death by her parents – James and Mary Schaffer, her husband – George Young, 2 brothers – James A. (Buster) Schaffer, George Thomas (Tommy) Schaffer, a son-in-law – Chuck Hardesty and a granddaughter – Brittany Young.
Funeral services were held April 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Brother Jimmy Lemonds officiating. Interment in Little Prairie Cemetery.
