Charles Breckenridge Franklin, Jr.

Charles Breckenridge Franklin, Jr. was born October 4, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was the youngest son of Tessabell and Charles B. Franklin, Sr.

He departed this life on March 31, 2023, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett, Missouri, from congestive heart failure.  He was 79 years old.

Charles graduated from Steele High School in Steele, Missouri, with the class of 1962.

In 1965, he was united in marriage to Sue Martin of Rives, Missouri.  After getting married, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to start their family.  They were the parents of two daughters – Susan and Charla.

Charles worked as a pressman for Intertherm, Corp in their printing department.  This led to him starting his own printing company, C.F. Printing, Inc. and also acquiring ABT Book Bindery.

Charles was known for his charming personality and always had a story to tell.  He would tell his tall tale, then give you that crooked grin.  He was known by the family as the fun uncle who always had time to play with the kids.  He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals games.  He was a talented cook and if you ever had one of his steaks you remembered it as one of the best you had eaten.

Everyone that met Charles knew that his family was first and most important with him.  He loved them dearly, and was so very proud of each of them.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by two daughters: Susan Franklin Beck (Jim) of Maryville, IL, and Charla Franklin Branum (Tony Shultz) of Kennett, MO; and two grandchildren: Chase Branum (Avery) and Taylor Branum Rardin (Andrew).

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles B., Sr. and Tessabell, his brother Richard Campbell, and ex-wife Sue Martin (Franklin).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at 11:00 am in the H. S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri. Interment to follow service in Little Prairie Cemetery.
