H.S. Smith

Cecil Harold House, 86, of Caruthersville, died Sept. 10,2019 at his home. Born April 5, 1933 at Cottonwood Point, he was the son of Shirden and Carrie Waller House. He was married to Maxine Sherwood on Dec. 5, 1953. She preceded him in death Jan. 21, 1994. On March 15, 2005, he married Mavis (Teeny) Bond, who survives of the home.
A lifelong Caruthersville area resident, he was employed at the Chris Craft boat factory and later worked many years as the butcher at House S…upermarket and as a fitter at Trinity Marine. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and forged many lifelong relationships with his co-workers and friends. He was also especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, wearing a “Grandfather” shirt to many family gatherings. After retiring he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Cecil was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church and served in the National Guard for several years.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Calvin and Joseph House and sisters Callie Price Hose and Ida Mae Duda.
He is also survived by his two daughters, Donna (Mike) Brooks and Karen (Tommy) Clayton and son, David (Cindy) House, all of Caruthersville; stepdaughters Ginger Gayle of Bowling Green, KY, and Julie (Pate) Cagle of Columbus, Ohio; stepson Tim (Lisa) Bond of Doniphan, MO; brother, Charles (Joyce) House of Caruthersville; sister, Joyce (Chester) Kordahl of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Terry) Alley, Kimberly (Tyler) Sullivan of Caruthersville, Catherine (Justin) Taylor, and Aaron (Alliye) House, all of Caruthersville, Kevin (Kalli) House of Hayti, and Brittany (Alston) Lee of Kennett; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation Friday, Sept. 13, from 11-1, with services at 1 p.m. at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville. Rev. Kenny Lee and family member will officiate. Burial in Maple Cemetery.
