Bunny Orpal May Shaeffer Crowe

Mrs. Bunny Orpal May Shaeffer Crowe passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband Sam and daughter Esther at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett, Missouri, on January 4, 2023.

Bunny was born on July 13, 1946, in Caruthersville, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Clarence William Shaeffer & Sarah Margaret Johnson Shaeffer; brother: infant Shaeffer; aunt: Andy Johnson Hill; and brother-in-law: William Edward Hippler.

Bunny is survived by her husband: Samuel Howard Crowe III; two daughters: Esther Faith Crowe McCutcheon and husband Jason Rodriguez McCutcheon & Ember Fleming Crowe Beutel and husband Richard Karl Beutel; son: Seth Howard Crowe and wife Taleighda Scott Crowe; three sisters: Carrie Ann Hippler, Suzanne Shaeffer Hosick and husband James Hosick, & Christine Yvonne Shaeffer Lossing and husband Gary Lossing; eight grandchildren: Jay Michael McCutcheon, Seth Hayden Crowe, Joshua Eron McCutcheon, William Shaeffer Crowe, Nash Bauer Crowe, Richard Samuel Beutel, Elaina Rose Beutel, & Emma Fay Beutel; and many nieces and nephews.

Bunny Crowe was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt. She was a devoted Christian. Bunny graduated from Murray State University with a BS degree in Home Economics and received her Masters degree from Southeast Missouri State University in Family and Consumer Sciences. She was a Member and served as Vice President of the Caruthersville Kiwanis Club.

Bunny Crowe Worked over 30 years for the Caruthersville School System in varying roles. From her start as a 1st Grade teacher to High School and Middle School Home Economics teacher. Bunny loved her students. In addition to teaching, she served as the School District’s Food and Nutrition Director. She enjoyed seeing students and employees put into practice the knowledge they had learned, to develop an understanding of the world around them and to get along better in it.

As a Wife and Mother, Bunny loved dancing with her husband Sam and encouragingly cared for her three children. In “her time” she loved sewing and decorating. She enjoyed designing and sewing formal suits or dresses and play clothes for her family. School formals, plays, programs, and activities were often laced with Mrs. Bunny’s designs, costumes, and glamour.

Visitation for Mrs. Bunny Orpal May Shaeffer Crowe will be at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville Missouri on January 10th at 12:30 pm. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm immediately after visitation. The committal service will follow at Maple Cemetery.
