Adrian Bernard Brewer

Adrian Bernard Brewer was born on March 19th, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of Myra and Kittrell Brewer. On Saturday July 22nd, 2023, Bernard made his transition to be with the lord at 9:54 am at Swedish hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

He attended Lane Tech College Prep where he graduated in 1997. Later in life, he attended Wright Junior college before transferring to Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he graduated in 2004 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.

While in college, Bernard conceived his first son, Jamari, by Latriya Morrison. After graduation, he decided to take up residency in Nashville so he could help raise Jamari.

Later in life, he met Shantel Williams of Detroit Michigan and decided to marry while continuing to live in Nashville. Together they had a son, Adrian Bernard Jr., and decided to call him “AJ”. Shantel and Bernard married in 2015 (they divorced in 2018).

Bernard worked in the telecommunications field for several years in Nashville before deciding to move back to Chicago in 2017 to live with his mom and dad. He worked for the Chicago public school system as a substitute teacher to pursue his passion of interacting with kids. When his mom’s health began to fail, he decided to take time away from teaching so he could help take care of his mom 24/7 until her passing in December of 2019.

Bernard was a devoted dad and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to travel, cook, and watch sporting events. He had many friends all over the United States where he developed strong bonds with, that include grammar school, high school, college and many others. He was known as “Bird” amongst his close friends. All rooting from his upbringing in West Rogers Park. He maintained close relationships with his many cousins, family, and friends down south in his mom and dad’s hometown of Caruthersville, Missouri, until his untimely death. Everyone who met Bernard loved his sense of humor and liked being around him. He would help anybody who needed help. He will be deeply missed by all but never forgotten.

Bernard leaves to cherish his memory his two sons: Jamari and AJ; daughter: Daneisha; his dad: Kittrell; brother: Kevin; grandmother: Leola; three aunts: Sue, Bridget & Brenda; uncles: Rickie, Calvin & John; special cousin: Cynthia Cunningham; and many more relatives and friends.

A visitation in Chicago, Illinois, will be held on Friday, July 28th, 2023, at the Drake & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held in Caruthersville, Missouri, on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, at 5:00 pm in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow in New Magnolia Cemetery. H.S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
