Julia Lossing

 

Julia Marie Turnbow Lossing was born September 1st, 1921 at Cottonwood Point MO, to Joseph Mckinley Turnbow and Jessie Elizabeth Pate Turnbow.  She departed us on Sunday morning, February 26, 2017 at Pemiscot Memorial Nursing facility, Hayti MO. 

Julia’s family lineage included the earliest of pioneer families to Cottonwood Point and Pemiscot County.  Most of her life was spent in the Cottonwood Point area.  She attended school at Cottonwood Point and Steele MO.  Her father was local Justice of the Peace and school board member at Cottonwood Point.

On January 5th, 1946 at Steele, Julia married Don Junior Lossing also of Cottonwood Point and recently returned from WWII and the Navy.  Julia grew up in a farming family and she had become a farmer’s wife, raising two sons.  She was a world class cook and excellent gardener.  No family ate better than hers or was loved more.  She was Na Maw to the grand kids. She was a longtime member of Cottonwood Baptist Church.

Julia is survived by her son, Don Edward Lossing Sr. and wife Len of Germantown TN. 

Surviving grandchildren are:  Stephanie Lossing Brown and husband Rusty of Jackson MO…. Don Edward Lossing Jr. of Cordova TN…. Laura Lossing Dobbs and husband Bruce of Glen MS…. Derick Glenn Lossing of Blytheville AR…. Joseph McKinley Lossing and wife Danielle of Knoxville TN.

Surviving great grandchildren are: Spencer Brown…. Molly Brown….Lenleigh Dobbs…. Murphy Dobbs…. Suzanna Dobbs…. Colin Dobbs…. Neely Julia Dobbs….and Marielle Lossing.

Preceding Julia in death were her parents….her husband Don Junior Lossing….a son Glenn Franklin (Corky) Lossing….at birth a daughter Mary Margaret Lossing….a brother Johnny Eugene Turnbow Sr,…. two sisters Joyce Lafferty….and Betty Oliver.

All will cherish her memory

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri with Mickey Moody officiating. The interment was in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville. Pall-Bearers were: Don Lossing, Jr., Derick Lossing, Bruce Dobbs, Joseph Lossing, Rusty Brown & Spencer Brown. The H.S.
