Bonnie B. Blagburn




Was born at Cottonwood Point, Missouri on November 10, 1919.

Departed this life at the Portageville Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 97.

He was the son of the late Homer Blagburn & Dora Howard Blagburn.

Attended schools at Cottonwood Point.

On November 10, 1941 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri he was inducted into the United States Army. He served as a Combat Infantryman in Papuan, New Guinea and the Phillippines during World War II where he was awarded 3 Bronze Stars. Mr. Blagburn received his Honorable Discharge at Jefferson Barracks on July 27, 1945.

He retired from Michigan Fruit Canners in Benton Harbor following many years of service.

Bonnie was well liked by everyone he met and knew. He had a wonderful, outgoing personality.

He enjoyed gardening and sitting down by the Mississippi River watching it roll along.

Bonnie was survived by a number of nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Dalton & Robert Blagburn and 2 Sisters, Ada Lard and Marie McCaslin.

Funeral services were held on Saturday. April 29 at 12:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.  Interment, with full military honors, followed in Maple Cemetery.

Pall bearers:  Douglas Blurton, Jimmy Graham, Floyd Pendergrass, Steven Blagburn, Byron Blagburn
