John Clyde Thompson

John Clyde Thompson was born at Cottonwood Point, Missouri on May 2, 1948.  He was the son of the late Johnnie “Buddy” L. Thompson and Johnnie Sue Culp Thompson.

He departed this life on January 17, 2017 at his home in Jordan, Arkansas.  He was 68 years old.

John Clyde was a graduate of Caruthersville High School.  He then attended Arkansas State University.

On June 11, 1968 he enlisted in the United States Army.  He received his honorable discharge in Fort Lewis, Washington on January 12, 1970.  During his service, he served in Vietnam.

After serving his country, he returned to Caruthersville and worked for Bell South until retiring after 30 years.

Survived by – his mother – Johnnie Sue Thompson – Caruthersville, Missouri

A daughter – Jennifer Reeves – Caruthersville, Missouri

A son and his wife – John Clyde Thompson, II and Joly - Caruthersville, Missouri

5 grandchildren – Mary Grace Reeves, Emily Reeves, Owen Reeves, Trey Thompson, Caitlin Kerley.

A sister and her husband – Teresa and Danny Stevens – Hayti, Missouri

A niece – Christie Irions – Caruthersville, Missouri

A nephew and his wife – Zach and Kristi Stevens – Hayti, Missouri

Other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Mattson, Rev. Dave Lewelling, and Mr. Ed Reeves.  Interment followed in Maple Cemetery.

Pall bearers:  John Thompson, Zach Stevens, Harlyn Crayne, Robert Powell, Billy “Speedy” Powell, Andy Ross.

Honorary pall bearers:  Kevin Fullerton, Randall Waldrop, Jeff Snider, Jerry Pendergrass, Denny Baird, Chief Tony Jones, David Ross.
