William shearer

William Price Shearer, Sr.  was born December 10, 1927, Chicago, Illinois.  He was the son of Arnie Albright and Edith Logan Albright.

He departed this life at his home in Three Rivers, Michigan, on October 27, 2016.  He was 88 years old.

William graduated from Madison Wisconsin High School and then went to Western Michigan University and University of Michigan Engineering Program.

In February of 1945 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he was inducted into the United States Navy.  He served in World War II and Korean War.  He received his honorable discharge in Memphis, Tennessee 1952.

On October 16, 1950, in Caruthersville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Peggy Bennett.  She preceded him in death in 1997.  In November 1998, he was united in marriage to Harriett Poole.  She preceded him in death in November 2008.

William worked for Continental Can Company in the maintenance department.  After that plant closed, he then went to work for the Fonda Group in Three Rivers, MI.  He was a member of the United Paper Workers Union for 35 years.

He was a member of US Navy Cruiser Sailors Associations, American Legion, Eagle Lodge, Moose Lodge and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  He also loved to hunt, fish and travel.

Survived by – Son – William Shearer, Jr. and his wife, Randy

3 step children, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents-Arnie and Edith Albright, a brother-Rodney Shearer, a step-sister-Margaret Albright Cady and his 2 wives-Peggy Shearer and Harriett Shearer.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jaroslaw Skrzypek officiating. The entombment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri. Pall-Bearers were Bill Shearer, Jr., Ben Bennett, Jr., Merlin Welty, Jr., Kenny Lee and Rick N. Clark. H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
