Alicia Bizzle

VIVIAN ALICIA BIZZLE Alicia was born June 8, 1925, in Caruthersville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Dustin Fielding Sherrill and Lallia Jones Sherrill. She departed this life on July 24, 2016, in Hayti, Missouri at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. She was 91 years old. She attended the Caruthersville School System. On August 24, 1941, in Caruthersville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Bizzle. He preceeded her in death on October 4, 1986. Alicia worked for the Brown Shoe Company in Caruthersville. She retired as a Foreman after working for 42 years. Alicia was an active lady. She and Robert loved to fish the Mississippi River. They would go out early in the morning before going to work to run the trot lines that they had set the evening before. She loved to cook and eat the catfish they caught and share them with friends and family. Another thing that she truly loved was to hit the road with “the sisters”. Her sisters-in-law and she would travel at a moment’s notice if one of them somewhere to go and needed a passenger. She attended the First Christian Church. She is survived by – Chuck Grooms, Dusty Grooms, Judy Grooms Counts, Darryl Grooms, Jackie Grooms Powell, Randy Tomlin and a host of other loved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dustin and Lallia Sherrill, her husband, Robert Nathan Bizzle, a sister, Madeline Sherrill Grooms, a brother, William Mathenia, and a niece, Vivian Grooms Tarpley. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Interment followed in Maple Cemetery. Pall bearers: Trey Cain, Charles Cain, Dale Gunnels, Aaron Gunnels, Tony Powell, Chris Powell.
